The right way to travel

Before I began creating my own detailed itineraries, I had taken a birthday trip with my husband to Charleston for a few days. Before leaving, we made a list of everything we wanted to do while there, and believed that when we arrived, we would just "go".  Our plan was to wake up, choose where we should go for that day and head out.

Because I love anything to do with history, Fort Sumpter was obviously the first on our list.  To our surprise, they were only open from 10-5 and in order to get there, you had to board a scheduled ferry. It wasn't until the last day of our trip that we could actually make it, almost missing the one thing I wanted to do most. With many historic cities, both US and abroad, the top rated places are only available for select hours and some may close in the middle of the week. This was where I saw the need to put tight and detailed plans in place.

I have always said that with a "whole world full of things to see, there is not enough time to go anywhere twice, so I have to plan each trip in a way that allows me to maximize the full experience." This was the one trip that I had to do over due to not being able to experience everything the first time around.

Omni Resort-Hilton Head Beach

After spending years of staying at traditional chain hotels, we discovered the other side of vacationing, in our first ever resort stay. This was all thanks to Time to Travel Inc who encouraged us to move in this direction during the height of the pandemic when travel was not so easy.

Before this stay, we had the theory that as long as the hotel was clean and had a descent pool, we were fine because "all we were doing was sleeping there." After our stay at the Omni Resort in Hilton Head, we never fully went back. Three years after this stay, we still talk about the amazing experience of someone bringing us "drinks by the pool" and how the beaches were some of the best we had ever seen.

This was only a four day trip, however everything we needed was available to us. There were daily activities, good food, bike rentals as well as rentals for beach amenities, a spa, tennis courts and a nearby golf course. Rarely did we have to drive to another location, but only did to participate in the always fun local attractions such as the nearby dolphin tour or to board the Black Dagger in the Pirates of Hilton Head adventure, but we were always ready to return to the Omni in order to enjoy all that they had to offer.
